Hi My Name Is College Drop Out

Dear Jude,

Growing up, Grease was my favourite film. From the hunky fifties greasers to wanting to be a cigarette smoking Olivia Newton John in leather pants at age six. I could have only imagined this was going to be the spitting image of my senior year. To my surprise by the time I hit high school, leather jackets were phased out and I could defiantly not fit into a pair of leather pants. When I graduated at the end of the year I also did not ride off into the sunset in a flying car with John Travolta to what could only be Mars. I did get to drive off into downtown traffic between my two grandparents in the backseat of a not so stylish car. However, I had a promising year at college to look forward too in the program of my choice, 3D Animation. Yes the program to which I would soon find out was not so promising.

DISCLAIMER: I am not bashing anyone who is currently in this program or who's life's work is in the 3D Animation industry. I am sure you are all very lovely people.

In my love for Tim Burton films I had this amazing image of what this program would be. I figured I would be working with stop motion film and creating these wonderful characters by hand. No, I did not do very much research into the program and yes, I rushed into this without much thought (the story of my life). I found myself the first week of school in classes with rows of computers, surrounded by people who had the right image of what the program was all about. When it comes to computer software and doing fancy stuff on a computer I lack greatly. And this was 80 percent of what I would generally be doing. So I did the thing most parents fear, I flew back into the nest and dropped out of college. Now I would say the hardest thing about making this decision was realizing that I would have to get my mini fridge back down five stories of my residence building.

Sadly, this "I'm doing what makes my happy" high only lasted about two weeks before I realized I was living back with my parents, working in retail and Netflix had become my best friend. So, heres to not living responsibly and feeling less intellectual as the weeks pass!

CONFESSION OF THE DAY: The other week I returned a book I bought at Chapters after a read it.

                                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                                                     Prudence .

  1. Great post! I love you honesty! One of my favorite movies is Grease too! I'm also a huge risk taker... So I know how you feel. I'm trying to work on it though but It shows we are brave right?
